Vineyard City will mark the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks with an evening of remembrance, gratitude and community on Friday, Sept. 11.
The commemoration will begin at 7 p.m. at Vineyard Grove Park, 350 N. 100 East. The event will honor the lives lost on Sept. 11 and recognize the first responders, service members and other community heroes who continue to serve others today.
The evening will include Community Hero Awards, giving Vineyard an opportunity to recognize local individuals who have made a difference through their service and dedication to the community.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to explore emergency vehicles up close and meet some of the people who serve in emergency response roles. Live music by Skylar Geer will accompany the evening, with food trucks available for those who want to grab dinner during the event.
The commemoration will conclude with a special drone tribute after dark, providing a visual tribute to the lives and legacy remembered 25 years after Sept. 11.
Vineyard City encourages residents to bring a lawn chair or blanket and join neighbors for the evening. The event is free and open to everyone.
