Vineyard City is seeking qualified residents interested in serving their community as the city fills a vacancy on the Vineyard City Council. 

The appointed council member will begin serving on September 15, 2026, and will serve through December 31, 2027.

The vacancy provides an opportunity for a Vineyard resident to play an active role in shaping the city’s future, helping make decisions on issues that affect residents, neighborhoods and the community as a whole.

Who can apply?

Applicants must meet the legal qualifications for appointment, including:

  • Be a registered Vineyard City voter.
  • Have lived in Vineyard for at least 12 consecutive months.
  • Maintain a primary residence in Vineyard throughout the term.
  • Meet all other legal qualifications outlined in the application packet.

Interested residents must complete the application packet (located here). Applications must be submitted in person to the Vineyard City Offices no later than 12 p.m. on Friday, September 11, 2026. A $50 filing fee is required at the time of submission. 

Following the application deadline, candidates will be interviewed during a special City Council meeting on Tuesday, September 15, at 4 p.m.
