Vineyard City Council Member Ezra Nair announced that he will resign from the City Council effective Aug. 30, citing professional development opportunities and future career growth.
Nair shared the news in a statement posted to social media, saying the decision came after “extensive consideration.”
“Despite all the craziness and some of the actions I’ve strongly disagreed with, I’ve genuinely enjoyed much of my time on the council serving you all,” Nair wrote.
He said one of his primary goals in serving on the council was to help provide administrative experience during a period of significant transition for the city. Nair expressed confidence in Vineyard’s current leadership, noting that City Manager Brian Voeks is now in place.
“With Brian Voeks now on as our city manager, I’m confident we remain in good hands in that regard,” he wrote. “Effective management is critical for cities to have long-term success.”
Nair also reflected on his time in public service, saying the experience strengthened his appreciation for government administration and for public officials serving at all levels. He thanked the Utah County Commission for supporting his opportunity to serve and gain experience in local government.
According to Nair, his resignation is “primarily to pursue further opportunities for my professional development and future growth.”
Although he did not provide additional details about his next step, Nair said the reason for the transition would be made official in the coming days. He added that he plans to complete his remaining time on the council and continue supporting the city during the transition.
“I continue to love our community and wish the best for all of our professional employees going forward,” Nair wrote.
Nair’s resignation will take effect Aug. 30. It is expected that the City Council will discuss the process for filling the upcoming vacancy following his departure.
