While most Vineyard residents are navigating the morning commute along Geneva Road or enjoying a walk by Utah Lake, one of our own neighbors is currently preparing to hurtle down an icy track at speeds exceeding 90 miles per hour.
Caleb Furnell, a Vineyard resident and standout athlete, has officially taken his place on the world stage as a member of Team USA’s four-man bobsled team at the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics in Italy.
While the 24-year-old originally hails from Lee’s Summit, Missouri, he has become a fixture of the Utah Valley athletic community. A former track star at Utah Valley University (UVU) in Orem, Furnell settled in Vineyard with his wife, Brynlee.
As a “push athlete,” Furnell’s role is critical. He provides the initial explosive force that launches the multi-hundred-pound sled into the track, a task that requires the exact combination of strength and sprinting speed he honed just down the road at UVU.
